Q & A: Toni Robinson - I'm passionate about creating my own lane and living by my own rules.

Toni Robinson is an ambitious business woman who has been an electronic repair specialist for over 15 years. Her passion for living life on her own terms is evident in the way she operates as a wife, a mother, an electronic technician and entrepreneur coach amongst others.

To be in a field where most women may shy away from is one of the qualities that makes Toni stand out, however, the fact that she can literally and technically fix anything that is electronically broken (IN Stilettos) takes the cake!

I'm passionate about creating my own lane and living by my own rules. - Toni Robinson

Who is Toni (What is your full name, background etc)?
My name is Toni Robinson, I am a mother of 2 and a wife. I am also an electronic technician by trade. I've been in the business for over 15 years. I started my journey attending a vocational high school specializing in electrical and electronic work. Then I continued my studies at New York City College of Technology where I studied Computer engineering. I started my career with the New York City Transit Authority as a Revenue Equipment Maintainer which entailed repairing and giving maintenance to all the electronic devices in the train station dealing with the Revenue. Since 2014 I've founded my own company Stilettos & Screwdrivers mobile electronic repair. We repair all types of electronics including mobile devices such as cell phone tables and laptops. I am branching off to teach electronic repair as well.

What do you consider your greatest achievement in life so far?

I would honestly say creating 2 beautiful intelligent beings that are my daughters, aiding them to grow up and add value to world.

What is it like being a tech repair specialist especially as it could be a profession attributed mostly to men than women?
It can be very difficult. I say that because you will get underestimated about your abilities a lot. You have to do more than the average male because some may feel you lack the experience and you feel obligated to prove them wrong. One thing that is becoming a great thing is slowly more opportunities are opening up and we are definitely needed in this field so career advancement is on the rise.

What are you passionate about and why?

I'm passionate about creating my own lane and living by my own rules. Its
very unfortunate, and I can probably speak for a lot of people when I say this, but entrepreneurship isn't something that is encouraged enough. We are raised to be great workers and thinking outside of the box is sometimes shunned. I'm passionate about using your talent, special gifts, and skills in creating a means to an end for yourself. Monetize on your own abilities and make a profit to support yourself. Corporate is fine but so is entrepreneurship. Learn the hustle and create a solution for a problem just as any business would. Be your own boss!

What advice can you offer to women who want a career in your industry?

Be adaptable and stay current in all the advancement of technology. It is ever changing and you have to learn on the fly. Don't allow the stigma of "that is a man's job" to stop you from pursuing a field that is very profitable. Technology
is broad, and there is so many avenues of work you can take. Explore them all and find your niche. Then kill it!

How do you juggle the many hats you wear as a tech specialist, blogger, entrepreneur coach and public speaker?
I learned to keep a tight regimented schedule. Also I had learn that you can't do it all, so you must delegate. Prioritizing what is important is key and always remember your end goal. Quality work is essential, be it my repairs or content on my social platforms. So giving my best is a must.

What is the most important lesson life has taught you?

Don't rush the process. I wanted results quickly. I learned that sometimes the journey is more important that the destination because it shapes and mold who you are and how well you will respond to test and pressure in whatever form they come.

Which is your take on "women supporting women"?

I am 150% in favor of this. Society jades our outlook on one another. Competition outweighs everything. What most don't realize is the beauty and power that comes from supporting one another. You get so much accomplished and the love is amazing when you experience that support. Iron sharpens iron. It is necessary for success.

What is your favourite Quote?
