Tell us a little about your professional background.
I have worked in the event space and hospitality services for over 15 years, and it’s been extremely rewarding. Prior to that, I worked in HR in multiple industries spanning banking, telecommunications, and logistics.

Looking back to the early days of Elles Cocktail, what was your biggest “aha” moment that shaped the future of your brand?
The aha moment was knowing we wanted to provide a service that stood out to our clients. We focused on customer experience and have continued to do so over the years. It’s one of our greatest achievements that most of our clients have been with us for years.

You’ve explored cocktail cultures in over 15 countries. Which global experience most transformed your approach to hospitality?
I’m obsessed with customer experience and interaction. Indonesia has my favorite customer experience, they pay so much attention to your needs.

With a team of 30 professionals and over 10 mobile bars, what’s your secret to building a team that reflects your brand’s values?
Ensuring my team is happy. You have to support them so they support you. Everyone has such high expectations of their staff without knowing what they’re going through. It is important to be aware of their lives and support them in their personal endeavors.

Let’s talk about mentorship. You’ve empowered countless aspiring entrepreneurs through workshops, leadership brunches, and hands-on training. What inspired you to make mentorship a core part of your brand?
I am a product of a great mentoring program, which I’ve gained both through my family as well as Wimbiz. Through Wimbiz, I understood the value and the support that you can gain from having a strong mentor, and it’s been the reason why I have continued to enjoy mentoring and supporting young people in their professional journey.

Mentorship often involves tough love. What’s the hardest truth you’ve had to share with a mentee? Pointing out to them that they could be doing things better, it’s never good to hear criticism, but it’s important to tell them the truth at the building stage, so it helps them make corrections to ensure that they can build a structure that is sustainable for their business to grow to the next level.

If you could create a mentorship program for women in business nationwide, what would its pillars be?
I would love to build a programme where women who have retired share their knowledge with the younger generation, just sharing knowledge as a way of empowering young women to build productive, sustainable businesses.

If you could redefine one aspect of Nigeria’s hospitality industry, what would it be?
It would be a better support system, so everyone has access to more information that would be a value add to their business. Whether it’s logistics recommendations, real estate advisory for office rentals, etc., it would be great to have a system in place that gives support on any needs or gaps for entrepreneurs.

What’s the most powerful piece of advice you’ve ever received that you’d love to pass on to our readers? To keep doing what I’m doing and to stay true to myself, it’s very important to do so when you can find yourself constantly criticizing and analyzing what you do and how you do it. It was advice that came out at a very pivotal time, and I truly valued it.
