Dr. Cole, tell us about your professional background and how Tritek Academy came to be.
I am the CEO and Founder of Tritek Academy, an award-winning EdTech organization committed to helping individuals transition into the tech industry. I started Tritek with a vision to bridge the accessibility gap in tech, especially for underrepresented communities. Over the years, we’ve trained over 5,000 professionals across the UK, Nigeria, the U.S., and Canada in project management, business analysis, and data analysis. My passion for mentorship and creating life-changing opportunities has been at the heart of Tritek’s journey.
Tritek Academy celebrates its 8th-year anniversary, what stands out to you as the most significant milestone in this journey?
One of the most significant milestones for me is seeing Tritek achieve 200% growth post-COVID-19. It’s a testament to the resilience of our team and the real impact we are making in people’s lives globally. Beyond the numbers, witnessing the success stories of our students, many from underserved communities — who have transitioned into thriving tech careers, stands out as our proudest achievement.
The tech education landscape has changed dramatically since 2017. How have you adapted Tritek’s approach to stay relevant and effective?
We’ve remained adaptable by continuously updating our curriculum to reflect industry trends and emerging technologies. We also place a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, mentorship, and career coaching. Our global presence and commitment to accessibility ensure that our students are well-equipped to navigate the evolving tech landscape.
Looking back quickly, Tritek Academy has achieved 200% growth post-COVID-19. What strategies did you implement to adapt and thrive during and after the pandemic?
We pivoted quickly by enhancing our digital learning platforms and offering even more flexible, remote training programs. We focused on community-building, offering mentorship and mental health support to keep students engaged and motivated. We also leveraged partnerships and invested in marketing strategies that helped us scale globally.
Among the many awards and recognitions you and Tritek Academy have received, which one holds the most personal significance for you and why?
Being named Outstanding Woman in Tech 2023 holds special significance for me. It’s not just a personal recognition, but a reminder of why I started this journey — to break barriers and inspire others, especially women and Black professionals, to pursue and thrive in tech careers.
How has your guiding philosophy “Make a way, not an excuse” shaped your leadership style and decision-making process?
This philosophy has shaped me to be solution-oriented and resilient. It pushes me to find opportunities even in challenges and to inspire my team and students to do the same. It has driven me to lead with authenticity, take bold steps, and stay committed to empowering others regardless of obstacles.
You recently hosted a transformative event on International Women’s Day, tell us more about your event and why it was very important for you to host one.
The event was designed to celebrate women in tech, foster mentorship, and encourage young girls to pursue their ambitions fearlessly. It was important for me to host this event because I strongly believe in nurturing future leaders and providing platforms for women to connect, learn, and be inspired.
Tech education is evolving rapidly with AI and other emerging technologies. How is Tritek preparing students for jobs that might not even exist yet?
We are constantly evolving our curriculum to incorporate AI, data science, and emerging tech trends. More importantly, we teach adaptability, critical thinking, and continuous learning — essential skills for any future role. Our goal is to future-proof our students so they can confidently face an ever-changing job market.
What are your future goals for Tritek Academy, and how do you plan to continue driving impactful change in the tech industry?
Our future goals at Tritek Academy include expanding our reach to more underserved communities globally, increasing corporate partnerships, and developing advanced training in emerging technologies. We aim to become a global leader in accessible tech education, continuously breaking barriers and creating new pathways for diverse talent to thrive.
Finally, If you could change one thing about the tech industry’s approach to diversity and inclusion overnight, what would it be?
I would ensure that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords but core business priorities, reflected in leadership representation, hiring practices, and career development opportunities. There needs to be intentional investment in nurturing diverse talent, from the grassroots to the boardroom level.
