The company has already supported several construction firms in accessing funds and equipment, serving more than 100 top-tier Nigerian construction companies.

Please walk us through the early days of Seza Pro. What made you decide to venture into construction finance?
Seza Pro was founded in December 2023. My late father had a construction company, and I grew up listening to his conversations about funds and construction materials. Also, I have so many friends in the construction industry who usually complain a lot about their pain point, which is access to construction finance and access to good quality materials. I ran with this and decided to help ease access to construction finance and construction materials.

How did you transition from identifying the market gap to developing a viable solution for construction companies?
I believe you create a product to solve a specific problem or meet an unmet need in the market, based on the discussion we had with different construction companies about the issues that affect them and the frustrations they face in the industry. We picked two issues, which are finance and construction materials, and created a product to meet these needs.

You’ve earned the nickname “The Sales Queen.” Tell us how this nickname came about.
The name Sales Queen was given to me by all the start-ups I have worked with, so to me, there is nothing that can’t be sold, you just need to know how to sell and have emotional intelligence. Sales is a soft skill, which I feel is inbuilt. I am proud I have helped over 7 startups get traction, and they have raised funding.

How is Seza Pro leveraging technology to revolutionize traditional construction finance and procurement processes?
Sezapro is an e-commerce company. We streamline your access to different construction materials. You don’t need to call different vendors, you also get access to buy now and pay later.

Could you share a particularly challenging situation you faced as a woman in construction tech and how you turned it into an opportunity for growth?
Construction is male-dominated. Sometimes, some clients feel that because I am a woman, I might not be conversant with all construction terminologies, but they always get swayed by my knowledge. I have always been the only female at different phases of my life; I was the only girl in my set in the Computer Engineering department at Unilag, also when I went for IT and my youth service, so I am used to being around the opposite sex.

What’s the biggest problem Seza Pro is solving for construction companies in Nigeria?
Construction equipment and access to construction materials. Funding is a major pain point in the construction sector.

Could you tell us about a moment when you almost gave up, and what kept you going?
My dreams are too big. I know there is always light at the end of the tunnel. I have never had any moment where I almost gave up, it’s my dream, and I am living in reality. Knowing my goal and what I want to achieve, I have no other option but to keep moving. Failure isn’t an option for me.

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about the construction industry?
It’s a traditional industry—brick and mortar, every day billions of Naira are spent, and it requires a lot of funding.

What’s next for Seza Pro?
We plan to extend to other African countries and become a unicorn company soon.
