In a landscape dominated by swipe culture and fleeting interactions, Ichötà serves a niche audience that values depth, compatibility, and shared cultural context. The platform blends intelligent technology with dedicated human concierges to prioritise trust, alignment, and meaningful connection, moving beyond proximity-based matching to focus on values, life goals, and emotional readiness. With a public launch scheduled for May, Ichötà is poised to introduce a more thoughtful and culturally attuned approach to modern relationships.

Beyond product leadership, Theodora Chimonez is a mentor, advocate, and voice for purposeful innovation. She is passionate about supporting emerging talent, championing inclusive ecosystems, and building communities where ambition and empathy can coexist. Tell us a little bit about your background.
I am a product architect at heart. Over the last fifteen years, I’ve scaled digital ecosystems across fintech, travel, e-commerce, and platform industries, but my most personal mission is Ichötà. I founded Ichötà to bridge the gap between cold algorithms and real human chemistry, helping people navigate the journey to lasting partnership through a blend of cutting-edge tech and human insight. My career has taught me that the most successful products aren’t just functional; they are impactful. That same drive for impact fuels my advocacy for women’s health – specifically, breaking the silence around conditions that are too often whispered about or ignored.

How and when did you discover that you had endometriosis?
The diagnosis came in 2016, but the battle started years prior. Like so many women, I was a victim of medical gaslighting; I was told my agony was “all in my head” or “just a heavy period.”

The reality was far more visceral. I reached a breaking point where I was blacking out at my desk. There were mornings I couldn’t walk because of the sciatic pressure; I literally had to crawl across the floor to reach for help. Even after a radiologist friend flagged signs of Endometriosis and Adenomyosis, my concerns were dismissed by my own OBGYN despite MRI evidence. It took relentless, exhausting self-advocacy and a specialist who actually listened to finally give my pain a name. That diagnosis wasn’t just a clinical update; it was a reclamation of my sanity.

What are the symptoms?
It is a full-body invasion. People think “period pain,” but for me, it is a constant, daily baseline of pelvic distress that frequently breaks the standard 1-10 pain scale. It’s the “Endo belly” that makes you look six months pregnant, the crippling fatigue and lethargy that feels like lead in your veins, and the “brain fog” that threatens your professional clarity. It brings a host of uninvited guests: anaemia, migraine, sciatica, vertigo, insomnia, and so much more. It doesn’t just affect my reproductive system; it dictates the rhythm of my entire life.

How have you been able to deal with having endometriosis in your life day-to-day?
It has forced a radical shift in my definition of “strength.” As a founder, I used to think strength was about relentless momentum. Now, I know it’s about attunement. I’ve had to become a master of my own energy – honouring my limits, prioritising restorative rest, and being unapologetic about my boundaries. Dealing with Endo is like managing a high-stakes project with a fluctuating budget; you learn to be incredibly efficient with the resources you have.

What is your advice to other women living with endometriosis?
Trust your intuition over a doctor’s dismissal. If your body is screaming, do not let someone tell you it’s a whisper. You are the CEO of your own health. Build a “board of directors,” a support system that validates you, and remember that needing rest isn’t a failure of character; it is a physiological necessity. You are not “difficult” for demanding answers; you are brave for seeking them.

What is the most ridiculous thing a medical professional has told you regarding endometriosis?
One of the most frustrating things I have heard is that the level of pain I was experiencing was “just part of being a woman.” Statements like that are harmful because they normalise suffering and delay proper diagnosis and care. No one should have to fight that hard to be taken seriously about their own body.

Beyond endometriosis, tell us a little bit about your professional life.
My professional life is defined by the “Zero to One” journey- the grit required to turn an abstract pain point into a tangible, elegant solution. Currently, my heart and focus are poured into Ichötà.

We are dismantling the “swipe-and-hope” culture by building a high-trust ecosystem that bridges the gap between cold algorithms and real human chemistry. While mainstream apps leave users to navigate a sea of noise alone, Ichötà differentiates itself through a powerful “phygital” (physical + digital) model:

  • Intelligent Tech: We use data not just to sort profiles, but to identify deep-seated values and long-term compatibility markers that surface-level swiping ignores.
  • The Human Concierge: This is our “secret sauce.” Technology handles the scale, but our human experts handle the nuance. Our concierges provide the discernment, safety, and emotional intelligence that an algorithm simply cannot replicate, acting as a trusted partner in your search for a life companion.

We aren’t just matching profiles; we are engineering the foundations of lasting partnership. At Ichötà, we believe technology should start the conversation, but human insight should finish it.

What do you hope to accomplish professionally in the next five years?
I intend to scale Ichötà into the global gold standard for intentional dating. I want to prove that the “loneliness epidemic” can be solved when you combine ethical AI with high-touch human advocacy. Beyond the platform, I hope to continue mentoring the next generation of women in tech, showing them that lived experience, even the painful parts, is the most valuable data point a founder can have.

If you could give teenage Theo some advice regarding health and life, what would you tell her?
“Listen to the quiet signals before they become screams.” I would tell her that she doesn’t need to ‘tough it out’ to prove her worth. I’d tell her that her voice is her most powerful tool, and if a room doesn’t respect it, she should find a different room – or build her own.
