Known to many as, “Ms. Cindy,” Cindy Tawiah is the creator and owner of the Diva By Cindy hair care system and its philanthropic efforts, The Diva Project. Inspired by a chemistry teacher, at the age of sixteen, Cindy began experimenting with making beauty products. Her love of chemistry never left her, and in 2007, Cindy created the Diva By Cindy hair care product line.
Prior to creating the Diva By Cindy hair care system, Cindy worked as a registered nurse for 13 years. Her bedside manner transcended the traditional medical field and became the impetus for her entrepreneurial efforts. Cindy is passionate about women and serving their whole being, and it shows through her outreach.
As a former victim of Domestic Violence, Cindy felt a great need to reach out to those who had been through a similar plight. Over the past five years to present time, The Diva Project has been transporting women from transitional homes and shelters for a day of beauty and healing. The Diva Project is fueled from sales of the Diva hair products. The Diva products give women longer, healthier hair that transforms their appearance and enhances their lives.
Cindy is also a former RN who left Nursing to open a Hair Salon and is now a manufacturer of a known hair care brand. She actively uses proceeds from Diva By Cindy product sales to help victims of domestic violence. Domestic Violence has been in the media recently, but Cindy has created a Beauty and Healing programme for several years in the Baltimore, Maryland community and also just recently released a new book that helps women focus on finding true love within to help them break the vicious cycle of domestic abuse.
According to the Public Policy Office of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV);
· One in every four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime.
· An estimated 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner each year.
· 85% of domestic violence victims are women.
· Historically, females have been most often victimized by someone they knew.
· Females who are 20-24 years of age are at the greatest risk of nonfatal intimate partner violence.
· Most cases of domestic violence are never reported to the police.
Women face the daily challenge of overcoming abuse either from an intimate partner or a stranger. Cindy’s book offers introspection and chronicles a journey which leads to healing and connecting with ones true self . It’s mission encourage inspire to continue to move through life’s obstacles and compel them to action and to Live Their Best Life despite their circumstances.
