Who is Adenike Oyetunde?
A lady on a mission. Evolving daily, basking in the journey; even on low’ days. A previous gem. A beacon of light. One who ends unforced rhythms of grace.
What are you passionate about and why?
My purpose. Late Myles Munroe always said, ‘die empty. Eternity has been on my mind, what a shame if I didn’t do as much as I had been tasked with, let alone not starting on that journey.
What is a day in the life of Adenike like?
I normally wake up by 4am, try to drink water, sometimes go through my phone and my devotion. That usually ends by 6:30am, afterwards, I have my rounds of news paper reviews on three different radio stations. By the way, I would have filled my Gratitude Jar. Then, I head to work. By 3/3:30pm, I’m literally off the air and then start to think of lunch. If and where I have meetings, events, I set out to venues.
Normally, I TRY to be in bed by 8:30-9pm, my phones are on ‘silent at this point; hence, a number of missed calls.
What are the necessary skills required to be successful in your field of work?Continuous reading, which really isn’t a skill per se. A few trainings here and there; to keep up with the technological changes, of the many changes now.
What are the challenges faced in your field of work and how do you overcome them?
Mental block, mental fatigue. Best way out is to take a BREAK.
Keeping up with attempting to attend as many events as you’re invited to. But age, personality, interest are some factors that determine if one attends though. Networking is so KEY in this field.
What is one bad habit you are committed to changing?
Ending calls ASAP. It’s so much better NOW, could be way. Work-in-progress!
Any Role Model(s)? (If yes who and why)
Still don’t know why, but Rosemary Church of CNN inspires me.
Christiane Amanpour, depth, the tenacity to follow stories to an end, however long it takes. Fareed Zakaria, goodness me. Delivery!!! You think he’s good on TV, read his articles.
What is the most important lesson being life has taught you so far?
Be humble, it doesn’t hurt.
What is your take on “women supporting women”?
So easy. I wonder WHY it ever is an issue. Can we know who we individually are? That settles the ramblings in the hearts and minds of those who jostle for things, fuelled by insecurities very often.
What is your favourite Quote?
Live your life like it’s GOLDEN’.
If you’re having a bad day for whatever reason, what gets you out of it?
Music. Speaking to my friend Udy.
Time travel or teleportation?
Hmm… never thought about this before. Maybe into Hitlers room and yes, hanging with Jesus.
If you could give your younger self one life advice what would it be?
Come into your own ASAP.
What would you like to be remembered for?
The identity, integrity and gift to dream again, people saw/learnt from my life; especially as a person living with disability NOW.
