What is mine will come to me, what is not mine does not concern me – Arit Okpo
Who is Arit Okpo?
I am a Producer, Presenter, Writer and Voice over person. I love food and I love life. I am blessed to be living a life that challenges and fulfills me. I am an introvert and have no problem spending an entire day locked in my room without saying a word to another soul. I am a grateful person, and I am daily given more and more to be grateful for.
What do you consider your greatest achievement so far in life?
I am very success and achievement oriented but I am also never satisfied. Balancing that with a sense of understanding of my journey is an achievement for me is the greatest achievement, because it puts everything else into perspective.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
Hmmm…I don’t think I have had one really bad yet. Or more likely I have blocked it from my memory.
What’s it really like to work as producer/presenter?
It’s busy, challenging but rewarding. At first I held myself to such high standards that I was always tense and anxious, but now I have learned to allow one feed the other. As a producer, I know what I want to see on screen, and as a presenter, I always have my mind on how the end product should look.

Best part of your job?
The fact that every day brings a different experience; today I’m prepping for a new show, tomorrow I’m dashing off to cover an event or the other, the third day I’m doing research for my weekly shoot.
Where do you draw your strength from?
God – because I know that as long as I have Him, I will always win. My family – because they believed in me even before I believed in myself. Myself – because I finally know what I carry inside.
What advice can you offer to women who want a career in your industry?
It is not a 9 to 5. It is not the kind of job you leave behind when you close. It’s a job where you always have to grow and learn and push. As a producer you must constantly plan, review and explore new ways of doing what you do. As a presenter, find your unique identity, find the thing you have that no one else has and polish it till no one else can do it like you do.
What is the most important lesson life has taught you?
That I can survive anything and come out better, stronger and wiser for it.
If you could sit next to anyone from the past or present on an airplane who would it be?
Kai I don’t know o. Maybe Desmond Tutu…he would be hilarious and wise and fiery and just fun. Oh and Strive Masiyiwa – incredible businessman who refused to take no for an answer
What is your favourite Quote?
What is mine will come to me, what is not mine does not concern me – Arit Okpo
What Bible verse do you have bookmarked right now?
Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and keep you in the way you should go, I will guide you with my eye.
What would you like to be remembered for?
I want to be remembered as a woman who excelled at what she did, and who in achieving greatness, also pushed people around her to achieve greatness as well. I want to be known as a woman who was not afraid to be honest and not afraid to be kind. I want to be known as a woman who lived her truth, and who loved everyone like Jesus does.
