Tell us more about your highly sought-after Composite Bonding service.
Composite bonding has revolutionised the world of Smile Makeovers! It is non-invasive, a single-visit treatment, it doesn’t require cutting or shaving of your teeth like porcelain veneers typically would, it is more affordable than veneers and it is pain-free. Composite is like a plasticine-type white putty that I apply to the outer surface of each tooth (typically on 16 teeth – 8 upper, 8 lower). I shape the composite on each tooth and use a special light to set it. I then polish the composites to create a beautiful smile. Each tooth remains separate to allow for proper tooth brushing and dental flossing. Composites come in different shades so you can choose a soft white or you can go for a brighter Hollywood white. It lasts about 5 years at which point you might decide to either remove the old composite and have a new set placed or it is removed and you return to your original teeth underneath. Your teeth are all still underneath more or less as they were originally. Of course, it is very important that you look after your teeth when you have Composite bonding to avoid bacteria buildup and potential problems. Regardless we all need to look after our teeth.

What inspired you to bring this service to Lagos, and how does it feel to reconnect with Nigerian patients?
I treat clients from all over the world. But being a Nigerian, of course, I have a special place in my heart for my homeland and my people. Friends and family have asked me for years to bring my talents back home. I always said that I would. Now is the time. I am so excited to immerse myself amongst my fellow Nigerians in doing this. It has also allowed me the platform to teach, train, and give back. I’m so excited.

Your visit comes at a time when dental health awareness is growing in Nigeria. What are the main preventive care practices you recommend to anyone looking to get one cosmetic treatment or the other?
Dental health must come first. It is no good jumping to stage 10 and getting a beautiful Smile Makeover when the foundations are rocky. I always advise that clients should have regular checkups at the dentist (usually ideally every 6 months) and regular hygiene teeth cleaning at least every 6 months. Your daily Oral Care regime is crucial. Please carefully brush your teeth twice a day, in front of a mirror to see what you are doing. Use a medium-textured toothbrush, never a hard one! Floss your teeth once a day. I have posted videos on my social media pages showing the correct techniques. Use a good fluoride toothpaste (You need about 1400ppm Fluoride content). Mouthwashes are generally not necessary unless they have been specifically advised by your dentist to treat a particular problem. Of course, minimise sugar in your diet. Sugar causes tooth decay.

Could you walk us through the composite bonding process and share why this treatment is so popular and transformative?
The steps are quite simple. Once a client has registered for the treatment (send us an email/WhatsApp/Instagram DM) they will be invited for a Virtual consultation with me. I will have a look at their teeth and get an initial idea of their suitability for the treatment. I will discuss the treatment process and answer their questions. If they are deemed suitable, they will be booked in for a face-to-face in-person assessment of their teeth & gums, X-rays, 3D scan, and teeth cleaning to get their mouths ready for treatment day. They will also be booked a slot for the Composite Bonding Treatment. Lastly, they will attend their Composite bonding treatment appointment where we will transform their smile in a single session.

I will be bringing all my exclusive high-end materials from London.

This is a very popular state-of-the-art non-invasive treatment which is trending highly in the UK and America. It transforms smiles in a single short appointment and it helps people regain their confidence with their smile. It is life-transforming. It is a game changer.

We have deliberately priced it at the giveaway price of just over 6 million naira as an introductory offer (normally retailed at 12-20 Million naira). People no longer need to travel abroad to London or America for this Smile Makeover as I will be bringing it to their doorstep.

For those new to cosmetic dentistry, what advice would you offer to help them decide if composite bonding is right for them?
Do you want to improve the aesthetics of your smile? Do you feel self-conscious about your smile? Do you feel low in confidence because of your smile? If your answers to these questions are yes then this might be the treatment for you. Book your Virtual consultation and get personalised advice for you. You can also watch our information videos on our social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok) to learn more. This is a one-time exclusive giveaway offer that is only available to 10 clients. It’s not one to be missed.

With over 20 years in the field, how has your perspective on cosmetic dentistry and smile makeovers evolved over the years?
Experience is the best teacher. Over the years, I have seen 1000s of different mouths and the wonderful people that own them. I have learnt that one size does not fit all. It is all about bespoke care to get it just right. I have learnt about advances in materials and technology to enhance my treatment outcomes. I have learnt that these specialist treatments are not for everybody so there is a process of case selection to determine who is suitable. Honesty and transparency with my clients is non-negotiable.

Tell us a memorable story about a patient whose life was transformed by one of your smile makeovers.
Interestingly, I have such a story that I recently shared on social media. A young lady came to see me in my London clinic, she was clearly quite withdrawn and she had her head down throughout most of her consultation appointment. She reported that her husband had left her with two young children. She said that he would often hurl insults at her regarding the appearance of her teeth and stating that she was unattractive. After years of abuse, he left her. She said that she became very withdrawn and insular and she completely lost her confidence. She had heard about my Smile Makeovers so she decided to book in to see me. We talked, I got to know a bit about her and the dream smile that she desired. We planned and then I got to work. I conducted a thorough examination of her teeth and gums and took the necessary X-rays and scans to ensure that her teeth and gums were healthy. She had her hygiene teeth cleaning. Then we were ready for the Smile Makeover. Using my Composite Bonding treatment, tooth-by-tooth, I hand-crafted her a new smile. After about 4hours of layering polishing and buffering, I presented her with her new smile. The look of sheer joy and happiness when I gave her that mirror was priceless. She cried tears of joy. 2 weeks later she returned and told me that she had regained her confidence. She could now smile again. She now walks with confidence and pride. Her life is on the up.

What are your hopes for this visit to Lagos, both for your patients and for any potential collaborations within the local dental community?
First and foremost, I am super excited to be a part of the Smile transformation journey of each client. I am honoured to be able to share my experience and knowledge with Nigerians in the dental industry. I have had a number of inspiring conversations with other dentists and organisations in Nigeria that have reached out to me for collaborations. I am excited about what the future will hold. I am currently part of a charitable outreach project whereby I have donated items to support the community. I hope to be able to do more when I am on the ground. Who knows, this could be the start of something big for the future.

Finally, What is one essential dental care tip you wish more people would adopt for better oral health and a brighter smile?
Floss every day! And I don’t mean the dance move, lol.
